Sanctum

2025

The painting shows a woman cradling a pair of legs, holding them with a protective intimacy that almost feels maternal. At the same time, the image carries an exploitative edge - the legs become an object, a symbol, something handled rather than simply held. It sits in the space where care and possession overlap, where the body is both comforted and put on display. Sanctum lingers in that contradiction, questioning who gets to protect, who gets to be protected, and how easily tenderness can tip into control.
